I usally go out and buy a new laptop if i want to upgrade but I dont have the money to pay for a new one so i not sure how to install new RAM. I have a 512mb and i want to upgrade windows vista and put a 2 gb and not sure how

First thing, your going to need to see how much ram your laptop will support. . Then you will have to know what type of ram it will support. Example : PC - 100..
PC- 2300 ... PC- 3200 .. Then you can go about putting more ram, if possible to your laptop
If your not sure. Go to the manufacturers web site for your laptop and look up your laptop's model number under support and you should be able to download the manual that has hall the specks for your laptop.

Read the laptop User Manual FIRST. You may not be able to add that much RAM.

The same applies to hard drives. RTFM.

Then, go to the manufacturer's web site to see if your model can even run Vista.
