I purchased two cans of President's Choice "Extra Meaty Beef Dinner". I know the recall for this brand applies to the pouches but I'm still very concerned. The UPC numbers on the bottom of my can are VERY similar to the affected product's UPC numbers. Also, I have two dogs and one is drinking A LOT more than usual. Despite the fact that the product I bought isn't listed as part of the recall I can't help but think maybe they just haven't realized it yet! I tried calling the 1-866-895-2708..busy, busy, busy! That's all I'm getting! Please give me some feedback on this and if anyone has another number I could call please provide it..I'm so scared right now. These guys are truly my babies and I don't know what I'd do if something happened to them. Also, what are the symptoms of this? Both my dogs seem ok (except for the excessive drinking) but their gums are both kind of pale. I might just take them both to the vet to double check and make sure they are okay. Please help!!!!

I can breathe a sigh of relief! The CANS of President's Choice wet food are not affected, only the pouches. I feel so badly for the people who have bought this food and fed it to their pets only to have them die. I have chalked the one dog's excessive thirst down to it being pretty dry in this house. Since I only noticed him do this this morning I will just continue to watch and monitor him and the recall list to make sure..whatta scare though!!!

The symptoms for acute renal failure include vomiting, loss of appetite and lethargy. If you are concerned about the food you have, even though it hasn't been recalled, throw it away. You may want to switch to dry kibble. Menu Foods has stated that no dry food is or has been produced at the plant where the questionable food has been issued from. Watch your dogs for any signs of trouble. Honestly, the one dog that you are concerned with should have some blood work done just in case. It can't hurt, and you may coincidentally be able to catch a medical problem unrelated to the food scare. Excessive thirst can mean so many different things (diabetes comes to mind above all else), but the only way you will know is to have blood tests done.

My pet food recipe: 2 cups Brown rice 1 cups oats 1 cup corn meal 1 cup Grape nuts 1 egg ground turkey peas and carrots Buy in bulk. Cook brown rice 2 cups at a time in a big pot. After rice is cooked, mix with oats, corn meal, and grape nuts. Store in a large glass container in the fridge. Give your dog a serving size that you would normally vs dry food-this food is hydrated so maybe a bit more. Buy ground turkey in bulk-Bag (seperately bag) as much as you would give from a can-8oz and store in freezer-take out daily and microwave for each meal adding some peas carrots and egg. I have had this diet since the food scare. My dogs are doing fantastic. Their coats are nice and soft and they seem less hyper. All you need is some big pots and a large glass bowl, a little more time, and wallah-your own dog food. It is best to give for a week, and see how they are doing.

Take your dogs to the vet for testing if you are this upset. Calling that number wont do anything for you.

The only way to calm your nerves would be to take them to their vet. This way you'll know for sure if they are okay.

Well stop feeding them the tainted dog food for starters.

Vets are helpful.

Level two advice here, you should heed it carefully. Thanks.

You're welcome.
