Well, I was in the hospital with contractions 2-4 minutes apart on the 11th. I was dilated to 1.5 cm 40-60% effaced and the baby was at a 0 station. The dr. told me I was in early labor, then the contractions fizzled out and I've been stuck at the EXACT same spot for the last 9 days. No change at all, despite contractions, back pain, loss of mucous plug ETC.

I think pre-labor can last up to weeks at a time (I know! How awful is that!)

I hope you're not in the same boat as me! Good Luck!!

It could be hours or days, or even weeks. I started dilating 2 weeks before I went into actual labor, and then had a 2 hour labor and delivery.

It is different for different people, with my first child, early labor lasted around 9 hours but with my second child it lasted around 7 hours, you wont really know until the time comes
