Not Brown's greatest fan, but as far as I know he hasn't killed several thousand of his own people yet.

Of course its extreme to call Brown a "Stalinist". Its also ignorant and idiotic. Its just the same as when the ignorant on the left wing compared Margaret Thatcher to Hitler. The comparison just doesn't stand up to close examination. Or any kind of examination for that matter.

It does sound it at first - until you realize just how much he has increased the power of the State even before he gained control. That is exactly what Stalin did during Lenin's lifetime. Now one in five of the working population is employed by a state of local Government organization, and over half the population is reliant upon the state for the major part of its income. With such a client base Prime Minister Gordon could then maneuver himself to a position of total power. I doubt if he could get to the position Stalin had of being able to murder at will - and I do not seriously think that he wants to. But he could get dictatorial power over the life of the country, and his will could become law. Why the Tories are not challenging the steady extension of authority, and the massive imposition of new laws and regulations - often on the most trivial of matters - is beyond my understanding unless they have ideas of controlling the country eventually.

No! Not personally killed yet but he has helped fund a war hasn't he.....he is a dangerous man that is hiding a terrible secret from the country - he and his stupid ideals have left this country billions of pounds in debt - that is why he, Blair and all the other politicians want you to work until you are 67/68 - to pay for them and civil servants to retire at 55. That doesn't take into account all the other scams he has instigated to cover the national debt - mark my words - you have been warned about this man BROWN

Well he's probably been called worse. What I though was most disappointing was that a senior ex-civil servant couldn't use a better turn of phrase. "Stalinist" is a pretty cheap insult.

I think it was extreme but if he does decide to kill some of his own people I hope it's the ones who abuse the system and live on hand outs when they could go out to work instead
