I never did have a tree house. I always wanted one but we never had a tree that was suitable for one unfortunately. I grew up on a farm so I was always climbing on the barn and the feed barn and the trees. I started riding motorcycles when I was 5 years old, but that's a whole different subject. My kids want a tree house but we don't have any trees that are big enough. We are planning on moving to Idaho so I told my kids that I would build them a tree house when we get moved. I am really excited to build them one. To answer your other question, yes we do pass our fears on to our children. I always try to be careful about the things that I say in front of my children. I want my children to have their own views and fears, not mine. Nice question, it brought back many memories of my childhood on the farm.

I guess that's a really good point that you made. When you are younger you can roll around in the mud and not worry about how your going to get the mud out of your hair, or jump from trees for the fun of it not worried about whether or not you'll break an arm. You can gulp down two slushies in a row without thinking about the major brain-freeze that follows. I think its responsibility that comes with maturity, the older you get the more you think about consequences. But for me I live life to the fullest, I still jump from frightening high heights and take in ridiculously large amounts of ice cream. Live, love and be merry. That's my motto. Peace out.

My friend had one and I was always over there. I know, right!! Her tree house was pretty high off the ground but we didn't care. I think the fear has to also do with knowing how bad it would hurt if you did fall. I never fell out but one of my other friends did and he sprung his ankle. I try not to pass them on but it sometimes it happens.

yeah , often adults pass their fears to their kids
sometimes even justified, tigers in the woods maybe
my bro and his friend made a treehouse, WAY up in a pine tree, like 60 feet up
I never did.
I'm think maybe a very large tower kind of treehouse would be nice, like 20x20, 5 stories or something. Could build an hour every day maybe. Sort of grow it.

I never had a tree house, but yes I do think that parents sometimes unknowingly pass fears on to children. One of my grandmother's sisters was "deathly" afraid of storms. We KNOW it had to be passed down because no one had "done" anything to her.

not a real tree house, but a tree that grew in an odd way so it fit four kids in it! the base of the tree spread into four HUGE branches! no never fell
and yes children are conditioned to feel fear
