I think that India shares its boundary with six countries. They are:
1) Pakistan (a country to the North-West of India which had once been an integral part of India and is also known as The Islamic Republic of Pakistan).
2) Nepal (a land-locked country between India and China, roughly rectangular in shape which is also known as the Himalayan Kingdom).
3) Bhutan (a country bounded by India in the East, South and West and by China in the North. Bhutanese call their country the Druk Yal which means the Land of the Thunder Dragon. Bhutan is so called because of it being a land of violent storms).
4) Bangladesh (a country to the South of which lies the Bay of Bengal and it is bounded by India on the other three sides. Bangladesh also shares its boundary with Myanmar in the South-East. Bangladesh had once been an integral part of India).
5) Myanmar (formerly known as Burma is located on the Eastern side of India. The people of Myanmar call their country the Golden Land because of its abundant natural resources and wealth. There are a large number of Buddhist temples in Myanmar known as Pagodas. Thus, Myanmar is also called the Land of Pagodas).
6) Sri Lanka (an island country formerly known as Ceylon lying about 35 kilometres from the South-Eastern tip of India. It is also called the Pearl of the East as it has been known for the beauty of its hills, rivers, waterfalls, beaches and thick forests).

Well, let's see:
1] Pakistan
2] Afghanistan (disputed Kashmir)
3] China
4] Nepal
5] Sikkim
6] Bhutan
7] Burma
8] Bangladesh
I guess you could make a case for some of the islands in the Bay of Bengal/Indian Ocean as bordering, but most geographers probably wouldn't accept that:
9] Sri Lanka
10] Maldives
11] Andamans - Burma
12] Nicobar - Thailand & Indonesia
