Therefore cannot appear at the start of a sentence in PROPER English as it is a follow on from a previous statement.
I.E. I have discovered a hole in my garden that goes straight down, therefore i have assumed it leads to Australia!
It is the same as using But to start a sentence.

Well, it can be used to make a compound sentence.
The car would not start; therefore, John had to walk.
Both parts are complete sentences, joined by 'therefore'.

you cannot directly use therefore to connect a sentence..
you can only use it in the middle of a sentence by putting so,and etc.
for example ; The question is tough. so therefore you cant answer it.
