NO!
Johan is the best pitcher in baseball by far right now and he's just starting to come in his own...he's only been a starter for like 3+ years and he's completely dominated for most of that time... plus the fact that he's a lefty and is much tougher on hitters than any righty could ever be
Dice-K may have a good season this year - but it will take him some time to adjust to MLB hitters and once teams see him more than once they may have adjusted to him already...

I'm not going to agree with my predecessors here and instead agree with the media professionals who get paid to make these predictions for a living.
YES Dice-K is the real deal. YES he has overwhelming potential. He's pitched in games where he's thrown over 200 pitches, so I don't think the rigorous MLB schedule is going to be a problem. MLB only plays about 15 more games than Japan anyway! He's not just an average schmo pitcher from Japan. He's amazing.
Let's look at the track history of highly touted Japanese players shall we? Ichiro Suzuki, Hideki Matsui, Kaz Matsui...
All three were predicted to be "busts" by the fans, but great ball players by the media. Look who turned out to be right? Why should Dice-K be any exception?
However, will he be competition for Santana? No way... the only competition Santana has this year MIGHT be Rich Harden if he's healthy. He's just way too good.

As a RedSox fan I think Dice-K will be fine with about a 3:50 ERA and at least 175 K's. Wins are hard to predict and a lousy indicator of a pitchers performance and more of a team stat. I think Dice-K is more in line with an Oswalt or Hallady.
Having said that Johan is the best in baseball. No one is even close in second place.

Matsuzaka has never pitched a full 162-game season. By Labor Day, his arm is going to feel like jello. Unless the Red Sox baby him by pitching him only five innings (also known as the Jaret Wright Treatment), in which case they'll have to rely on their bullpen, which means the Orioles have a shot at third place behind the Yanks and Jays.
Santana is a great pitcher from April through September. In October, he's just another good pitcher. Which is why the Twins haven't won a Pennant since the smart Bush was in the White House. (Well, comparatively smart.)

Santana is 10-7 with a 2.89 era Volquez is 14-5 with a 2.86 era obvious Volquez gets extra useful run help Santana has been the ideal pitcher in all of baseball interior the final 4 years and he's DOMINATING this year as nicely. Volquez isn't even on Santana's point yet. For all all of us understand he might nicely be a a million year ask your self.

Well the guy is the best thing since ichiro coming from japan besides that coat he wears really earns him a freaking nickname what a freak! .lol I think it will be unfair to compare him to Johan Santana a Cy Young candidate every year but he could be an all star caliber pitcher very solid I watched the WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC when he beat my cuban team and he really knows how to pitch changes speeds well he'll be solid for the red sox but not better than Santana...Sorry RED SOX fan....lol

Not a chance!! Dice-K is just a triple A player at best. The major league hitters will rock his world starting in April. Santana is still "Da Man".

Last I checked, Daisuke's first ever MLB opposing batter this spring hit a double on the first pitch. Also the Gyropitch is prettymuch a straight up fast ball that spins in a bank rather than pitch.

NFW. Johan Santana is king of the hill. Matsubuika or whatever may win 12-15 games and be a dud.
