Do you think the processor should have to reimburse people for their pets lives and vet bills? Should they be more closely monitored so that an incident like this wont happen again? What are your thoughts?

As someone with a cat currently undergoing treatment at the vet for tainted food, I can say a definite yes to the food processor being held responsible. I have heard both sides of the argument but I think it is time we start holding companies responsible for the quality of our pet food (not to mention the food we eat as well). In my case I will spend my dollars with companies that I can trust. I have been through hell the last few days and I do not believe the supplier really knows (or will tell us) what toxic substance is in the food.

Since dogs and cats are carnivores, why are we feeding them an extruded food concocted from grain?? The contaminated ingredient in both this scare and the Diamond dry food incident last year was GRAIN.

Suddenly, the hassle of creating a homemade ration for our pets doesn't seem to be such a big deal...

I do think they should be held responsible. Also, it worries me that so many different types of dog foods came from the same place! Is this the pet food industry's dirty little secret?!

I think they should be shot and pissed on!!!!
I'm so mad right now. I bought President's Choice cans and although the product isn't listed on the recall I can't help but to think maybe they just haven't realized it yet!! I tried calling the 1-866-895-2708 recall number and all I'm getting is a busy signal!!!!!!!!

as of right now i believe iams/euk are reinbursing their product and anyvet bills associated with iams/euk. i think dog/cat food companies should make thir own food like eagle pack...they make only for themselves and never EVER had a recall. unlike so many others. but the food processor should be held responsible for not looking into where there new wheat gluten distributors come from and what they are like.

I think owners should be held more accountable for feeding their pets crap instead of decent food. If you're outraged, do more research and find out what you're really feeding your dog or cat and then be responsible for making sure they eat better stuff.
