U poor bab! I dont think that you'll be able to claim income support whilst you are still at college or in full time education. However, if you were to put in an application for housing, you may get a property! But even thats ighly dependant on where you live. When you do eventually move into your own place, you should be entitled to a Community Care Grant, which you won't have to pay back. This would be for basic hard and soft furnishings and for a cooker. Whatever happens, I wish you the best of luck. And congratulations on the preganancy!

I know you dont want to live in a council flat but sometimes that is better than a private let. For a start the rent is not as expensive because it isnt just to pay someone elses mortgage and holiday! Are you worried about having a council flat in a bad area because the only private landlords that usually take DSS are in bad areas
Go to your local housing office they will be able to tell you what benefits that you are entitled to in regards to housing benefit. In some cases they can pay the deposit for you. Good luck

You can claim income support after you are so far gone in your pregnancy (I think it's the 12th week of confinement, which is 12 weeks before your baby is due) but I don't know what the rules are whilst you are living at home...and it doesn't make any difference if you are at college you can still claim (I know because I did! - 7 years ago now lol!)
Your best bet is to contact your local benefits agency...I believe you can get a crisis loan whether you are on income support or not, but they will be able to advise you.

Stay at home until may and then go to social services and tell them your circumstances. Maybe lie a little and say that your family says that you can't stay because of no room for the new baby. They may offer you a place at a mother and baby home. Then go to the DHSS and sort out some benefits.
From mother and baby home, Social service will help you to find your own home and you will get help to furnish it. You don't want a loan hanging over your head when you have just had a baby.

You don't say how old you are. I was under the impression you only get income support if you are in a job which pays a low amount. So you would need to be working to qualify for income support, or on other benefits, like sickness or disability.
Otherwise everyone would want to be moving out to their own place and getting money to do so, without having to work.
