Let the kids do some of the asking. Have you ever used a KWL? Kids like those and it's a good way to introduce a new topic. K = Know, W = Want to know, L = Learn. You put three different poster boards up, each one with the letters mentioned above. You discuss with the students what they Know and write those on the K poster. Then discuss what they Want to know and write that on the W poster. After you've gone through the lesson, then you discuss what they've Learned and put that on the L poster. In this way, kids will ask a lot of questions. I find when I do this that the questions the students ask often prompt me into asking questions that I hadn't thought of before...more higher learning questions, even for kindergarteners.

Good luck. Hope that helps...

My son is in 5th grade and came up with these ideas:

Do you like dragons?
Did you know that you could have a dragon for a pet?(if you had a huge enough room, and it was tamed)
Did you know that there is something called a Kimodo Dragon?
Did you know that it is actually a lizard? the biggest lizard?
Is a lizard a mammal, reptile, amphibian, bird, or a fish?
What are the characteristics that make a lizard a reptile?
Is a salamander a lizard?
Were dinosaurs lizards?
