Was anyone else kind of surprised and less than thrilled with the dialogue and choppy storytelling in 300?

Considering the great look and attention to detail in the photography and art design, why do you think they went ahead and filled it with cheesy one-liners and less than convincing character traits?

I have to agree with you - it was visually stimulating but left a lot to be desired when the characters spoke. I also find it hard to believe that all 300 of the soliders would have 6 pack abs. I liked the movie Troy a lot more.

Remember, it's an adaptation of a graphic comic where dialogue isn't what drives the story. I expected the script to be somewhat lacking, but that didn't make me enjoy the movie any less.

Well, because the dialogue is based on a comic book. They don't have much space to write detailed conversation.

obviously they spent the money on the look and not the screenplay.

that is fairly tipicul of movies made from graphic novuls.
