any wood you want to use , go expensive use ok or a similar hardwood . the norm is pine, then you are asked what kind,
ceder, scots, lebanon, etc best thing go to the nearest timber yard see what they have got, do you want a standard door frame rebaited or with wooden plants, is it arched or then you have to go to a Joiners yard with a template of the opening to get one made of the wood you require.

Generally the door frame is made out of whatever type of wood the door itself is made out of, if the door is made of pine so will the frame, if it's oak the frame will be the same and so on.

CHANCES ARE IF IT'S AN INTERIOR DOOR IT'S MADE OF PINE OR RECYLED COMPOSIT MATERIAL.
