SuperRuper: That you allow yourself to be offended because my wording doesn't suit you is not my problem. If you have no answer to the question, that's fine. But I worded the question the way I wanted it worded. I don't have to have your approval.

We have the right to change our government if we want to. Citzens of this country can speak out publicly against any policy that is put in place by the government without fear of their views being held against them.

We are the freest, most liberal society in the world. (OK, maybe Amsterdam has one on us.) The economic possibilities here are endless, anyone can move to the top of the class structure.

In the United States you are free to worship any way you see fit. This is guaranteed under the constitution.

The first 3 words in the Constitution, "We the People".

We the People voted for our Representatives. We the People voted for our president. We the People says ALL the People get to choose, not just a few who believe they are the "intelligista" and know better than you how the country should operate.
It's messy. It always will be. Why would anyone, who says they mistrust the current government, want government to have MORE power. Even if voted out at some point, they will be in power again?
Fight the Nanny State! Smaller government, less restriction, let "We the People" make our own choices!

There are many reasons 1. This nation has given more people the opportunity to improve their lives through our freedoms and pioneering spirit only in American can a immigrant come here penniless and be a millionare in a short period.

2. We are the only super power in the history of the world that has liberated countless millions even our former enemies has prospered Japan 2nd wealthiest Gemany 3rd in the world.

3 Just because who we are deter other nations from being tempted to act aggressivly toward other nations. A good ex if their was no US Canada with all its oil, timber and natrual resource with really no legitimate military defence would be a targret for aggresion, but they know with Uncle Sam next door it would not stand, hope I have been of help.

American Exceptionalism

American exceptionalism has been historically referred to as the perception that the United States differs qualitatively from other developed nations, because of its unique origins, national credo, historical evolution, or distinctive political and religious institutions.

The basis most commonly cited for American exceptionalism is the idea that the United States and the American people hold a special place in the world, by offering opportunity and hope for humanity, derived from a unique balance of public and private interests governed by constitutional ideals that are focused on personal and economic freedom.

I think the independent nature of americans historically...the can do attitude, the lift yourself up by the boot straps and make your childrens life a little bit better than your own...and of course the founding fathers really hit a home run with the constitution...democratic republic...very greek and very smart. The early greeks defined the democratic republic as the best govt avaialble...btw they called pure democracy...Mob rule....very shrewd men.

The wording in your question makes it offensive to other nations...and really, should be offensive to Americans as well. "What makes the US such a great nation?" would inspire answers filled with rights and freedoms unique to the United States. But phrasing it as 'better' turns it into a competition...something that is unnecessary and certainly distasteful in this day and age.

Great leaders never purport themselves to be better than anyone else...they focus on the greatness.

We are currently the world's #1 power because of the kind providence of God. This can change and no doubt will before long. Pride comes before a fall, as every other past world power can testify.
