I am a 25 year old white male who is moving out to Los Angeles to become an actor. My agent suggested I change my name but I am having a hard time thinking of names. I have to change my first and last name. Any suggestions?

Unless you are on the verge of joining Equity or SAG, i'd disregard what your agents suggest. Reason? Say you pick out a stage name right now. If you are not in position to join one of the unions above, by the time you are, the stage name you chose may no longer be available. So now you've got the dilemma where you've been acting under two names (your real and your stage name), only your stage name is now taken and you have to go through this entire process of finding a stage name all over again.

How about Dante as your first name. Maybe your last name could be the name of the city/town that you are from or the name of the city/town you were born in.

I also like the name Dante Coventry. That popped in my mind when I saw the name you are using now. It has a good ring to it. I guess another way you could go about it it by using some part of your mother's maiden name.

Why cant you act with the name you already have?
If it is any help that without your original name you can take on roles more easiely then try some Srilankan names or the others that I list below which would be hiding your identity from you.
Suggestions Manki Bandarnaike, Sanki Buddawardane, Choru Robberiyal, Mein Pagal, Chetta Burra etc.

The question should be do you WANT to change your name? Unless you're a Bob Smith or Jim Jones, I don't see why anyone would suggest changing your given name. That said, a lot of people use variations of their given name. JM J Bullock is an example of that... he just took the "i" out of Jim.

Why are they making you change your name? Nowadays, they want distinctive names. Arnold Schwartenegger and Leonardo DiCaprio didn't change their names. Neither did Uma Thurman or Angelina Jolie. Your agent is giving you bad advice.
