I live in Tennessee and I was putting out pre-emergent the other day and I noticed quite a few thick bladed grasses. Maybe crabgrass has already come up?

What good will it do to still put out pre-emergent ? We are told by Scotts that we can safely put down pre-emergent all the way to April 1.

Here is a couple of pictures I took below:

We had such a mild winter in TN that yes, it's very possible, we were just talking about how many weeds we already have in our yard in Southwest TN. We've also chosen the Scott's brand, good luck!

There is an organic product out there called "Crabgrass Killer". You just wet the area of weeds, sprinkle the product on the weeds, and wait for about a week or 2. The weeds will turn yellow and die. It won't hurt your other grass, and it works on other weeds like clover. Hope that helps, and I hope you can find it in TN. I'm in TX.

Keep using the pre-emergent. It will prevent any more seeds from germinating. The crabgrass that is already there will have to be pulled.

I would not wait for that .... I would take out a garden tool of some sort and dig the crabgrass out. .... then take some plugs of grass, about 2" diam., from here and there and plant them in the middle of the bare patches .... they will spread in not very much time, and then fertilize it ...
