Thankfully I'm lucky enough to have some friends who are smart and not gossips. Still, given the choice, I'd rather have a friend with a good heart and not much sense than someone who will talk behind my back - gossips, as someone wisely said, aren't real friends, anyway. Not to pick on my own gender, but I find if you want a mate who won't gossip, make friends with a man. They can't be bothered with that sort of stuff.

Definately the nice one would be the better friend. Every friendship has its strengths and weaknesses. So what if she's a little naive. You can be the "worldly" one. The nice one will still be with you 20 years from now.

most of my friends are smart and they gossip so I would have to go with the latter, I would prefer to hang with the smarter people and not the naive.

I like my friend to be smart enough ( not a know it all or a dumbass) nice, and not a big gossip ( you know the one who knows everybody's business and has a tendency to tell all your business) that's my ideal friend
