Here is what I heard from a couple that we know:

Kids are out of the house.

Alcohol is hard on the body and hangovers are not fun in your 40's, 50's & 60's. Pot, no hangovers.

Also, one of the judges in the Anna Nicole trial was busted for smoking a joint in a park in Broward County, FL. He looks late 50's to maybe 60. Willie Nelson 74 years old and still smokes pot, does not drink alcohol. Robert Plant in his 60's, still smokes pot, said he does not drink alcohol.

It seems like pot is making a comeback with the older folks because our friends in their early 50's that smoke had quit for 25 years. Now they say they enjoy pot more because just one joint on the weekend gives them all they need to unwind with.

So, are any of you thinking about burning again? I know I am because alcohol is too hard on this 46 year old's body.

"burning again"??? Some never quit!!! Aging as we baby boomers are, I'm beginning to have a real appreciation for the pain relieving & relaxational aspects of weed. I quit smokin' cigs, and never drank. Pot is my drug of choice, and to me: the lesser of all evils.

11 states have medical marijuana...more debate the issue. The town I live in has essentially decriminalized small amounts. Its use is so common it's almost silly that it's still illegal. No surprise to me at all that more and more of the population is tokin'.

I do not think that all baby boomers are going back to smoking pot, as I did not like it when I tried it as a teenager, too mind altering for me. I do not not have a problem with alcohol done in moderation. One to two glasses of red wine would work wonders for the baby boomers, more heart healthy also.

From what I have seen, they never quit. They are just more open about it after the kids move out.
