Just wondering coz' where i am from in the Phil. people around are brown skined.. But when i go to other places they seem to like my skin.hihi=)

This varies among different cultures. Historically, lighter skin was preferable. We see this when we look at Egyptian paintings of women, who are always painted as light skinned. Also, women in older Europe used white powered on their faces to appear whiter. In both of these examples the idea at the time was that people with lighter skin had more money and thus do not have to work outside. Also, another key factor today and then is that you are lighter in your younger years and your Melanin builds up as you get older, so in this way the lighter skin is a sign of youth. Today though we are seeing a trend of tan look that is because we equate the tan skin with an athletic outdoorsy person no longer is it a sign of having to work outside/ being poor. Andddd this type of person is thought to be healthier. Thats is obviously not always true but that is the assumption...tan=healthy. However, this is not true everywhere, in Japan and Korea for example white skin is in. Women walk around with umbrellas blocking the sun and furthermore use skin whiteners. Again it is all cultural and healthy skin is more attractive than anything else and it comes in all shades, so just enjoy what you got.

I wish I had natural white skin with deep blue eyes, thin nose, blond hair, 6 ft 3, 210 lbs, healthy, masters degree, 2.5 million in my checking account, decent house that's paid for, decent car, and a beautiful healthy unmaterialistic wife who's a nurse who we mutually love at the age of 27 and a baby on the way with nice and happy family and friends around.

a lot of girls try to be tan by going to tanning beds and laying out and stuff, but personally i'm fair skinned and i hate it but i've learned to just have to deal with it, because i get tan in the summer, and being pale isnt all that bad. but i think that tan skin is definatly in for most people.

Well when i was in Italy the Girls loved my white Skin. So it depends on where you go. Personally i like girls who are as white as alabaster or marble. I think a too dark a tan looks awful

If you mean tan skin, then yes. Lots of people my age are trying to look tan. I am tan from the sun cuz I lived in Florida the past 5 months. Others try to use tanning beds.

everyone likes a tan! it makes you feel better and also looks healthier, I use to go to the tanning bed all the time and it made winter go buy faster. I can't wait til the weather warms up to get out and get some color.

Yes brown skin is sexy! It just looks so young & healthy. Its mostly that naturally dark skin that looks good not that fake stuff! :)

Every color of skin is "in". Just be confident in yourself. If people don't like you because of the color of your skin, they are extremely ignorant, and you shouldn't care what they think anyway.

i love golden brown skin.
filapinas are for the most part very beautiful (and know how to take good care of their man)
