Of course it is TRUE!!! I've done this countless amount of times, from being a model, to owning my own cafe' and having it written about in a book, to having a very successful business online, ect.
You really should believe this, I personally do not see any reason not to. Reality is based on faith, striving for goals both personally, professionally and spiritually, as they all eventually manifest. Yes, it takes work,....but it all starts with a dream....onward!

Two sides to this coin:
1) Yes, but you also have to know the right people at the right time for what you want to do. The 'polite' term is 'networking,' but really it's finding the right people to help you move along with your goal.
2) No, you cannot be 'anything' you want to be. Why not? A lot of it has to do with society, and what society is ready for. 50 years ago, people said this phrase (you can be...) but was it true? No. Let's say a woman wanted to be president 50 years ago. No matter how hard she worked, it would have never happened. Today, could it happen? I doubt it. America, at its heart, does not believe a woman can run the country as effectively as a man. How about a black president? 50 years ago? No way. Today? I doubt it - too much racism still...
No matter how hard you work at something, you still may not achieve what you want. Look at kids who work their tails off to become athletes, only to have a knee blow, or just simply not picked up... Look at the kids who study hard, take all the right classes, and yet still do not become the rocket scientist they wanted to be...
Can you STRIVE to be anything? Absolutely. We tell kids they can be anything, yet when they say they want to be a dancer or a comedian, we scoff... Why? If that's what they WANT to be and we scoff, are we not discounting what we JUST told them?
Chase your dreams. I tell my kids they can TRY to be anything they want to be, and that no matter what road they choose in life, I will love them. For me, it is not so much what they become, or what they want to become, but much more that they TRY before giving up on anything..... (sorry for the book-length reply)

no I don't believe it...it's merely a phrase to keep kids enthusiastic, making them learn to plan ahead, making them learn what they need to learn in school to survive later in life...but there is no guarantee, or anything, let alone success or success as some know it. Usually it comes from contacts, from money or grants a person can get if they are low income or specific races, and once they have the money to invest it and make their money work for them. The phrase "work smarter, not harder" is the phrase you lean in college. And, even though you'll hear the phrase "history repeats itsef" or "determine the future by the past", well those don't work or apply either. The one thing I learned in life is to be close to family as they will save you when you fall. Later in life make contacts who you can depend upon and join organizations and choose your friends wisely. And, have a strong faith. Seems strange to me but if you have a strong belief in God and attend church every sunday seems people will help you get where you want to go in life.

It all depends on your work ethic, I used to believe it too, but my sense have become dulled. I think that we have to make the best of all situations that we find ourselves into. I believe that nothing happens without a reason, and sometimes we just have to trust that things will work out for the best. I have found myself in some pretty difficult situations, but in the end I have always been in a better position than where I was before.

There is drive, and then there is ability. You may REALLY want to be an astronaut, but if you have no mathematic aptitude (or if you get airsick!) you won't be successful no matter how hard you try.
Better advice would be that everyone has different skills and gifts, and capitalizing on those gift means you get to do what you love and have a better chance for success.

Yes, this is absolutely true.. can you give me any example(goal) that can not be achieved.. if it is unreachable than how others have crossed that level too.. first mountain seems to be very high but when you reach the peak ,see it, it is below your foot.. it all depends on your hard work and determination..
