Babies under 4mths digestive system can not cope with anything other than milk.
It would make him very sick.
If your baby is hungry all the time then I suggest you speak with your health visitor and see what they suggest.
Gooduck

I would be careful with foods like porridge and ready brek etc as when my daughter was a baby there was an incident where a three month old had died due to the salt. I also breast fed my little girl for 18 months and she never slept until after she was two yrs old because breastmilk is digested much easier than formula, I would perhaps speak with your health visitor or infant feeding advisor for advice on what to do it may be that your little one is having a growth spurt making it seem like he isnt satisfied but I'm sure he, you are doing a great job keep up with your feeding and speak to someone who can advice you best on what to do next. All the best

A 3 mos old should not have anything other than breastmilk or formula. His tummy doesn't have the enzymes needed to digest anything else yet. Not until around 6 mos of age. Starting solids (including cereal/porridge) earlier than the middle of the first year can lead to an increased risk of allergies, diabetes and obesity.
It is normal for a 3 mos old to still be waking frequently at night. He is working hard to double his birthweight. He needs to eat at night.

ALL THESE THUMBS DOWN whose giving them someone without kids who knows nothing
dont take notice of some sites that say you cant feed a baby solids till 6 months, rubbish, people have been doing it for many years, myself included and nothing wrong with my two young adults(18-20)
you do whats best for YOUR baby,if you want to feed your son baby porridge you do so.But NOT in a bottle though ok,you can mix it with baby formula though
good luck

At three months old, your son is old enough for baby cereal. Mix some baby cereal with your breast milk and feed that to your son before bed time. He will sleep comfortably and be very satisfied. If he is really hungry, then he should eat the cereal without a problem.
I suggest the cereal over porridge because the cereal is what most doctors recommend. When you start introducing your son to baby food, it will be stage 1 which includes like apples, pears, lamb, etc. Very basic, easy to digest food. Your son needs something easy to digest and I have never seen stage 1 porridge.
I started both of my children with cereal at 3 months and then started slowly to introduce them to apples, pears, and the rest of the stage 1 stuff.
I know a lot of PP say "not until 6 months" but seriously, you are the mom and if your son is hungry..what can you do besides feed him? I fed my children solids before 6 months and both are absolutely fine! GL

The guidelines now state that you shouldn't wean onto solids until 6 months but I started both my children at 3 months on baby rice made up with breast milk. This was recommended at the time for large babies, 4 months was recommended for average sized babies.
My children both thrived on solids they slept through the night, they became more content and my daughter's colic seemed to disappear overnight. They are now extremely healthy and certainly not obese.

When my first son was born the rule for weaning was 3 months, at which point it was recommended that you inroduce VERY THIN baby rice as an initial food as it's nice and bland and easy on the stomach.
I am aware that over the past 7yrs the professionals now advocate 6 months plus but if he's hungry he's hungry-and my last two (21 and 8 months respectively) have both been weaned at 3 months because they were hungry-with my health visitors full knowledge and support.
Hope this helps.

My daughter was quite a big baby and always seemed to want ALOT of milk at that age, my health visitor told me to try giving her some baby rice as the milk wasn't seeming to satisfy her hunger, as long as it's got no lumps. You Should try baby rice all you have to do is add the babys milk to it.
You should speak to you GP/Healthvisitor 1st tho.

See you health visitor, they will tell you to give more baby milk and wait till at least 5 months before trying baby rice, and they are only talking about 4 teaspoons worth, stay away from rusks as hes too young and also starting early weaning can cause allergies.

I would first talk to your doctor about this. I have a cousin who's little boy had the same problem. They did go ahead and feed him baby rice cereal. but I would recommend talking to your doctor first and watching the portions closely, because their stomachs may not be ready and it can cause them to have pain and most likely a lot of crying fits.
