It's better to have your tubes tied after #2.

I got 4 children i had my 1st two normal Then my last 2 c section, i fell pregnant for my 5Th and doctors said that i was not able to give birth normaly as the scar tissue from the 2 c sections unfortunately i had a miscarriage, i thought you were only allowed 2 have 3 c sections maybe I'm wrong, but being told that if i do have another baby it would be c section we decided for the best not to have any more why put yourself through having babies if you have to have c sections all the time

I've had 4 sections. I'll tell you what my doctor told me.

Your chances of uterine rupture if you go into labor are fairly small (depending on scar tissue etc...) BUT (and this is what did it for me)... if you are the one it happens to your chances are 100%. Now, personally the risk to both me and the baby were too great if I knew it could be avoided. I did go into early labor with my 4th and everything was fine, I got to the hospital and they still did the section.

My only advice on this - if your doctor tries to talk you into a VBAC then I'd get a second or third or however many opinions you need to find a doctor that discusses both options equally and maybe gives their two cents on what they think. Remember that you are paying them... don't let an over-confident doctor force a decision one way or the other on you.

I think that that is ridiculous that someone has to comment that after #2 you should have your tubes tied. If you can afford your kids it shouldn't matter. Anyways if you have had previous c-sections the odds of you having another one are great most doctors feel that it is safer. About having one before or after you go into labor is usually up to your physician. If you end up going into the hospital with cramping than the odds of you having a c-section while in labor are great otherwise the doctor will schedule you for a c-section.

About stopping after two and barely having enough scar tissue. Your body always will repair itself unless you are unable too do that. Some doctors may advise against but every doctor is different and I highly doubt it will hurt you! If your doctor hasn't said anything about it to you recently than you should be alright.
Good Luck!

When you have that many c-sections you are at a higher risk of complications. Remenber once you have had that many c-section you stomach muscule tissue won't heal as fast and may not heal as well. There are also risks of fetal distress when have had that many c-sections.

It's unlikely that after 5 c-sections you'll be advised to try a VBAC - this doesn't mean that you can't go onto labor, it just means that you'd end up having a 6th section.

I would most definitely preschedule the c-section.
I have had three c-sections myself.I prefer to avoid the labor if at all possible.

your consultant will know best but my friend had 3 c sections and on her 4th they told her was dangerous and gave her elective, in fact her 3rd was elective too for same reason.

Oh My, I didn't know you could have 5. My friend had three and the dr. told her no more and she should had stopped at two because she barely had enough scar tissue to repair the incision.

Schedule your c-section. Why bother going into labor when it isn't necessary?
