Yahoo's misuse of the word violation is so over the top it makes a minor written error look like something very distasteful - now isn't that just another example of Americans over reacting to everything.

Yes. If it is a minor error.

Even worse when they give you a violation because some ONE person reported you. I got one for making the statement "she's dumping you." They said I'd been offensive. Sheesh!

Yes couldn't agree more! I got a violation because I answered a question like this......QUESTION 'What do Americans think Brits are really like?' MY ANSWER 'That we drink tea and have bad teeth'. IT WAS A JOKE!!!! I have plenty of American friends and we have a laugh about such stereotypes. I had points deducted, I didn't realise it was that serious!

It's like getting a "Letter of Insubordination" for making a judgement call - we base these decisions on experience and instinct - but if they're not what your boss would do, then it's wrong.

It depends who/what you are talking about but yes i think so in ordinary terms,unless you are talking about something which involves peoples feelings and emotions in which case i dont think its too dramatic.
