There is a difference between capital punishment in the US for crimes committed here, where you have a trial, and all too often there is a jury of your peers and the outcome can be wrong and someone can be put to death who is innocent, it has happened all to often in Texas. You can't undo something like this. Capital punishment is an eye for an eye, and it doesn't prove anything. Someone commits a crime and is put to death, I feel it is worse for them to have to suffer in jail for the rest of their natural lives.
It is a totally different thing when we are talking about mass murders in Iraq. I felt no sorrow at the death of the higher ups in the Saddam ministery, these were monsters. They were akin to members of the Nazi party who were put to death. There are different forms of punishment for different crimes, even an extreme liberal can see that.

They are sad about anything positive that happens for the Iraqi people because anything positive is a bonus for the republican party.

Their thirst for power knows little bounds. There foreign policy has brought nothing but disaster for the past 31 years as opposed to Republican foreign policy creating the freedom for over 500 million peoples. Including the former USSR.

George Bush will bankrupt the extremist Iranian government just as Ronald Reagan did the former Soviet Union.

This will ultimately drive a huge nail into the far left wings political coffin and it is something they will oppose even if it means the death of thousands of American lives.

I oppose the death penalty, regardless of party affiliation. As does most of the free world, by the way. I am not saddened by the capture of Saddam, or any of his cohorts. But I am saddened that we have lowered ourselves to their standards in the manner in which we deal with these people. Just my opinion...

I'm not sad about it so much as I'm sad about the whole situation in Iraq. What really disappoints me more than anything is that we never went after Osama. (The guy behind 9/11)

No, and I never stated I was against capital punishment. I actually think more clearly than that. There are pros and cons to it, but I'm generally in favor of it.

Why do you assume liberals are all against capital punishment? That is like saying all conservatives belong to the NRA. Please don't generalize so much. Many of us liberals have differing opinions on thing like capital punishment. We accept and embrace our differences of opinion -hence the term "liberal".

Libs today always seem upset that the poor ol Saddaam and his henchmen are punished in a fitting manner.
Don't you recall the weeping and gnashing of teeth when Saddaam did the chicken dance ?
Libs are always concerned about the rights and well-being of criminals and terrorists...it seems to be US they could care less about!

Any victory in Iraq = defeat for the liberals.

Cookie, the Liberals aren't sad that Saddam's deputy was hanged. But they are sad that you are so misguided and misinformed. Cookie....open your eyes.

Nobody's sorry for his death, just sorry that no more of Osama's men, or Osama himself for that matter, have been reported dead. Hussein is long gone, when do we go after the orchestrator of September Eleventh?
