The problem with that is that there is a limited supply of the oil that we make into gas and we are not in control of the vast majority of the oil. Our need to keep the flow of oil moving is why we are at war right now in the middle east and the only reason we have any contact with some of our South American neighbors at all. They have the oil so we have to be a little nicer to them. Until we get that ethanol thing figured out. ETHANOL FTW!!!!

Since America imports most of it's oil, how do you figure that it should be next to nothing. You don't believe that the people that get it from the ground and transport it from all places in the world should pe paid. How about all the people that work at the refinery's in the US? They should be paid minimum wage? If you have a problem with fuel prices, scream at the oil company's. They have huge profits and do not lower the price.
