what is the best way to search the web for hotels in a specific area?

i will be doing some travelling to different states for classes and exams and would like to know which websites are best for finding hotels nearest to a specific address. thanks to all!!

I prefer Marriott Courtyards so I check their site first but then I Google "Hotels City Name". I check the hotels available and find the best price on line. Then I call the hotels 800 number directly and nine times out of ten I beat Taravelocity, Expedia etc. If they are higher I simply tell them "X" is offering it for whatever. They alwauys make a better offer.

They prefer to make their own booking because they don't have to pay a commission. I get all kinds of perks like breakfast, a upgraded room etc. Try it - you will be amazed.
