A plea bargain benefits the court system and society by speeding up the process, and reducing the resources required to ensure access to justice.
With a plea bargain, the courts can try more cases (as they take less time), the police can spend more time on the streets (as they don't need to testify in court, or gather even more evidence for a case), and society can see more criminals put to justice (as there isn't a chance of them getting off).
Judges, being salaried employees, don't really benefit from a plea bargain, although it does reduce their workload.

The defendant is sentenced for a lesser crime and perhaps does not take up prison facilities.
The taxpayer does not have to pay for a lengthy trial.
Witnesses do not have to endure the trauma of giving evidence.
The judge is able to free himself for dealing with other cases which otherwise would be waiting for long periods in the list.
Provided that the defendant is guilty of an offence and is not being pressurised to admit guilt when he is in fact innocent, then plea bargaining is a good thing all round.
