"Thumbs Down" on several of your answers? Or worse yet, that you have one of your questions deleted??
Does this affect you? Hurt your feelings? Get you angry? Or do you pick yourself up,smile, and remember that this is just a game, really?
Today is so lovely.....I have no room in my heart for negative feelings.

There is no reason to get upset. We are dealing with a vast population and therefore there are numerous opinions. If everyone agreed with what was being said, then there would be no need for Q & A. Additionally, it is sometimes hard to seperate the joke questions from real ones (Sunshine - how many times has someone told you to do your own homework?). There may be an assortment of reasons why a question got thumbs down, or deleted. I look at my visits to this site as entertainment. Hopefully, I will never offend anyone with something I said and it people feel compailed to give me a thumbs down, then so be it.

The "thumbs down" has happened to me many times. I think it's quite childish. However, at the same time, I think that I've struck a nerve. Anytime you can dispute someone with facts or accurate information is going to upset them. Most people want to be agreed with all the time. Especially on here....people think they're the only ones who are right. It's quite funny considering how many of them really are uneducated on the topic they're discussing or it's something they're just "passionate" about. The thing with Y!A is that it's more about opinions than answers. More often than not, it turns into a debate instead of direct answers for the question asked. Even I do that....it's hard not to. When trying to answer someone, it's hard to leave out our opinions or life experiences. I just don't let it bother me. Usually, I feel that I've given someone a fact or info that they just don't want to hear or know about.

I get answers deleted, because I answer questions. I think about five times, and only once would I agree that I really was in violation. When it happens, I do worry about getting my account deleted too -- this is my email and geocities site account too. Fear the censor!

I think I do okay, though. I answer questions in the Religion and Spirituality section, and, since I'm a Pascalian, I give controversial answers to controversial questions. LOL. Losing about five answers out of five thousand isn't too shabby a record.

I am still really puzzled about losing an answer about endangered species of pond life in the U.K. I don't know why anyone would consider a discussion of the tadpole shrimp, Lepidurus packardi, to be a violation!

Yes, but I agree with boofie to some degree. It's always nice to see thumbs up, but a thumbs down brings us back to reality a bit. The fact that you can get a violation for voicing a strong opinion is one the inherent problems with yahoo answers. I'm totally against having accounts suspended just because someone's got an agenda, that's complete nonsense.

Yes. Sometimes I put my heart and soul into the answer. I research the answer and then I get a thumbs down. I wonder if they even read my answer or they just don't like my picture. Sometimes I am shock but most of the time. I don't pay attention. Don't sweat the small stuff. There are plenty of questions to answers on this site. It's for fun and entertainment to me. I don't take it seriously.

The only thing that hurts me here is when I ask a question. Just a question and not advice people come at me with personal attacks like I am some kind of monster. Hello, I ask you answer and vice versa. I didn't come here to get a personality assessment from a stranger that clearly has comprehension issues.
Just don't take anything too personally. Tomorrow is another day and it will be better!

Hi, Sunshine! No, I haven't noticed that ... but I have puzzled over some "thumbs down" that I received, apparently at random. It never occured to me that someone might be trying to take revenge for something I'd said that they didn't like. That would be very childish, wouldn't it?

Gray day here - looks like rain may be on the way. We need it!

I've asked a question, had it deleted by YA almost immediately, then re-worded the question slightly and had it stay open for days receiving dozens of answers.

I really don't think YA bothers to read the questions people report. YA isn't my problem...I just wish I knew who it was that takes such joy in ruining other folks' fun.

I never look at thumbs up or down on my answers (although I do give them to really good, or really bad answers).

The only question I had deleted was probably justified (I threaten to kill a puppy in a jokenly manner).

Anyway, I never noticed, and I do, on occasion, give fairly strong opinions.

I do get some interesting mail from them at times however. . .
