I also see a lot of that aloofness. I think that people are fearful that someone is going to take something away from them and it seems to make them hold on to things tighter. I on the other hand feel as though, it is more blessed to give then to receive. I still believe that the happiest people are the givers. It does not have to be money for some of us do not have money to give, but we can still give according to what we have to give. I would never want to be that person who just cares for number 1. To me that would be a very small shallow world with just number 1 in it. Everyone is not that selfish, although a great majority of people are. Choose friends who think like you.

i don't think they are aloof as much as there are to many crazy people out there that they are afraid of becoming a victim..?

It's our society. We're told by our parents from birth (usually) that we're "special". Once people start ingraining that into their minds and start believing it, they act out. Then they get around like-minded people, it spreads. Kinda like a disease.
