I have a house in the better part of Mesa, AZ which cost me $230k a year ago. You can find plenty of nice condos or townhouses for less than $200k in the Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler area, and some in Scottsdale as well. I like the Gilbert/Chandler area, and I like being close to the 60. There is lots of shopping, places to eat and things to do in that area. If you like going to bars, I would recommend downtown Scottsdale area.

My nephew just purchased a condo in Gilbert last year. 2 bdrm for about 200k. Nice area & a good investment at the time although I have heard, as everywhere, the market was over inflated so there is some adjusting going on or you might land a deal as a result. Chandler is a good area too. Maricopa Co. has one of the lowest crime rates because of the no nonsense sherriff there, if that matters to you?

Portlands public transit is increasing. Our Max prepare is being prolonged alongside I-205 as South as Sunnyside Rd....(it is great!) lots of our public buses (Tri-met) are additionally applying biodiesel. Portland is an particularly sparkling & effectual city with environmentally-minded human beings. i like it right here; there is a great deal to do. each and every thing is close, besides the fact that in case you will like an afternoon on the sea coast (an hour a million/2 stress), an afternoon on the mountain (Mt' Hood is likewise an hour a million/2 stress). in case you're searching for something hip to do, there is often an journey, stay overall performance or teach to attend....or in case you're into something extra organic....there's one thousand suggestions. stress up I-80 4 East for the time of the Columbia river gorge and hike or sightsee.............this is eye-catching. hire is getting steeper, yet probably not something while in comparison with the place you're coming from. i might provide you estimates, yet do not understand what you're searching for. i've got been to Phoenix/Scottsdale/Tempe some cases...my sister used to stay in Flagstaff.....I cherished it ok....the warmth is something fierce! i assume it boils right down to what you opt to be sure once you look out your window: green or brown. An aside to the guy that has the bulletins above me...I cherished your checklist yet i think of the 300cloudy days in step with year is extremely an exaggeration....and that i understand some extreme Blazer followers that could beg to selection with you. Plus so some distance as prepared activities bypass, portlands been toying with the belief of having a considerable League baseball team for years..........perhaps even professional-soccer (which i ought to care much less approximately). reliable success with besides the fact which you determine. Peace

Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert are all good choices.
Tempe is closer to the action, but more dicey in the areas..Gilbert and chandler are a little further out, which should insulate you from both the "action" and crime...but its a little more affordable for a condo.
Prices are going to decline a bit in the upcoming years, so you are in good shape
