I'm doing a paper for school about the career we want to pursue. I chose chef, But i need some info. on being one. Like, education required, training required, job decsription and responsibilities, typical work hours, kinds of places it would require me to work or travel to, and salary information. Please help.

Actually, there are some places that don't require schooling at all to be a chef!!! However, your good chefs have some kind of background in cooking, their parents were chefs/restaurant owners, etc., or they went to school. Schooling to become a chef can run 2 years, and it isn't so cheap. There are a lot of different schools to choose from. The job description, is being able to prepare delicious meals on short notice, keeping track of supplies needed to make this fabulous food. Salaries vary tremendously.....usually, starting out is around $30,000, but after recognition, can soar tremendously, the work hours depend on how many other cooks are there with you, or if you are the only one, the store hours, etc. If you get to be a really fabulous cook, you get invited to lots of different places to be a guest chef.....good luck!!!

try looking up the food network website... Also for education Johnson and Wales or a Culinary institute....
