Your friend should have a installation CD for the sound card which is delivered with the computer when you buy it. If she still has it, then she can just re-install it.
If not, then, follow "Mictlan_…" directions from the above answer.

Your friend has wiped her sound card driver not the sound card itself.
If she has the disk with the driver on just install it. If not go to the manufacturers website and download the latest driver for it.
Click on start, then control panel, then system hardware and then device manager open open sound video and game controllers look for your sound card right click on it and update the driver

START/CONTROL PANEL/ add new Hardware
windows will detect the Sound card and install it.
Follow instructions.
Let windows reinstall your sound system.
