I have heard that women will lose weight during early pregnancy due to morning sickness. I don't have morning sickness but lost about 2 lbs since last week when I found out that I was pregnant. Could it be a coincidence? I have been eating normally like I always do, but drinking more fluids.

Your metabolism gets a boost from all of the work of making a new baby. You may be watching what you eat more, too. Don't worry about it, all is fine. I was actually very ill with both of my pregnancies. I lost over 20 lbs both times, and both girls turned out fine.

I've lost weight during both my pregnancies. The first I was eating right, working out and throwing up. Now, it's an entirely different pregnancy for me...not sick, or working out but I eat alright --- nothing bad, and I'm still losing some weight. Water helps, smaller more frequent meals keeps your metabolism metabolizing. As long as your intake is good and there no ongoing rapid weight loss, you and baby will be fine.

I didn't have morning sickness until AFTER I lost 5 pounds. The first 2 months of pregnancy I dropped 5 pounds... then the 3rd month came and I started gaining weight and throwing up. I have a friend who lost 13 pounds at the beginning and she had mild morning sickness... but I think it was only the feeling, she didn't throw up very often nor very much. It's normal. Ask your doctor if you're that worried about it, but I wouldn't let it both me. Congrats and God bless!

I lost weight all 3 times I was PG to term. It's because it takes a lot of calories to build your baby. If you're concerned about the weight loss, you should maybe add a few hundred calories to your diet. Maybe in the form of 2-3 glasses of milk.

Happened to me all 5 times... I lost weight during the first couple months because I actually started eating right! More fruits, veggies, less salt, no sodas.... All my kids weighed in around 10 pounds, so it didn't hurt them any! Good Luck!

Enjoy it, I was surprised too. I am 11 weeks and expected to immediatly blow up. But with no extra effort I have lost like 3 pounds and my clothes actually fit better. I have been eating much better, lots of fruits and veggies and I think all the extra energy that goes into making the baby grow is doing it. i didnt realize how bad I was eating before. It could be vitamins and calcium too they say boosts your metabolism.
