I have a 2002 Saturn manual transmission car with about 55, 000 miles that has never once given me a problem. It had gotten plowed in after the snowstorm this weekend, but this morning it looked like enough snow had melted to move it. However, now it won't start! (yesterday it started but wouldn't move.) The battery powered stuff seems to be working and the engine is trying to turn over. Could something underneath the hood have gotten wet or damaged from the snow? If that's the case, could it rectify itself? What could the problem be and what do I do?

There could be quite a few things responsible.
The battery - Could be packing up, aged.Qiuchcheck is to open the caps, have somebody crank the engine and look in the cells, if one or more cell boils, the cell is defective, if not , the battery is ok, maybe needs charge.Batteries usually pack up in the cold because of the extra load of the cold engine.
Always use anti-freeze in the radiator, otherwise the water will freeze and the engine will be damaged.
The starter motor could be worn and when it is cold the load is much heavier.
The wheels could be iced up and it might feel like the car will not move. Don't force it, try and park in a more protected place.

can charge the battery and spray some commencing fluid into the air intake and then attempt to commence it. Take the spark plugs out and alter them in the event that they choose it. you additionally can placed a small area heater under it to heat it. while you're no longer in a storage basically placed a tarp or blanket over the automobile to maintain the warmth in. Wait an hour or so then attempt to commence it. Your oil gets very thick with the chilly climate and which will heat it up.

If its trying to turn over it could be the starter motor has a problem, does it turn over freely when you turn the key or does it sound kinda lazy if it does then the starter motor could well be the cause, try giving it tap with a hammer to free it up a little.
