Shouldn't that first line be "Bestrewn as I am...."?
For consistency in style, 'cannot I claim..' would be a more satisfactory wording.

perhaps the title "philologist" would be more fitting...?

if i had to choose, however, i would definitely have to say that being "bestrewn" with blood and guts sounds much more like a butcher with a bloody apron than an anatomist with a white lab coat...

You could claim to be anything you wanted. There's no real question there.

You should claim to be ostentatious, that would be a closer call than a linguistic anatomist. That my angel, you certainly are not.
