i have my belly pierced one on top and the bottom bit pierced... i would suggest buying a Ring to put in top bit because it hurts when it stretchs!! lol... i had to buy a new bar today from a shop called 'Strand' they made ones specially for pregnancy which are really long bars which is ideal for ur belly stretching..dont listen to anyone telling you that u shud take it out if you dont want to..just look for a LONG bar or a ring.. research on google 'pregnancy belly bar'.. or go here
http://www.jobananas.com/acatalog/Pregnancy_Belly_Bars.html
and it Doesnt interfere with scans.. all they say is u take it out when having one after 20weeks because they dont want it to Scratch the device as the device goes over ur belly button and it costs lots of money.. :)
at each midwife appointment and docters appointment neither one have told me to take mine out for medical purposes!! :)

I'm 22 1/2 weeks pregnant & I took mine out. Some women keep them in & supposedly there are special rings you can get. But a lot of the people my Dr. see are all stretched & nasty....Also, if you belly button goes outtie it could push it out. I know it's an expensive piercing & I'll have a scar. But it won't be as bad as if I leave it in...I'll just get it done again :)

Women make different decisions regarding the ring during pregnancy. Some women choose to remove it at their practitioners request, though no medical reason was stated, ask your practitioner what is right for you. Some choose to leave it until their bellies got larger and then removed it. A few were forced to remove it as it became uncomfortable at the very end of pregnancy as their abdomens were stretched tautly causing a pulling sensation. So basically it's up to you to do what you would like. Good luck!

Your stomach stretches completely to the point where your belly button pops out like a timer on a turkey. If you leave your ring in, your skin will rip and it will come off anyway.

The make special belly button rings that are flexable for pregnant women:

There's lots more that's just one site. Just remember that even with this your holes may end up being unusable once everything goes back to normal

I would suggest taking it out. i took mine out in the begining and it is horrible looking now , not only is my belly button completely stretched out (if left in would skin is so thin probably would rip) but i also have these huge huge strech marks in the shape of a V coming out from where the ring was.

well, as your belly expands to accomodate your growing baby, the skin will stretch (where you get stretch marks) and the area where the ring is, is not as elastic and may rip the skin. I would remove it.
Also, if you have to have an emergency c-section (for some reason) it could be a hinderance for the surgeon for some reason...
good luck

I left mine in when I was pregnant and it was fine but I was told by a body piercer to make sure you have a ring and not a bar, my friend had a bar and it tore out.
Take it out if you want to though, the hole will still be there when you're not pregnant. If in doubt ask a body piercer.

I had a friend who left hers in the whole time but I wouldn't suggest you do that. You can leave it in for awhile but like everyone else said it will stretch and cause scarring. Congrats on having a baby by the way ^_^

When your belly starts getting bigger it will eventually pop it out. If you want to keep the ring I would take it out.
