By the way, you only listed 4 cards and you don't have 3 pair (ill explain why) But, you WIN at this point. Although if the 5th card was a 9, then your bro would win because he has the higher 2 pair.
you have two pair and your bro only has one pair.
you had a 4CLUBS and one of the five cards was a 4. Thats one pair. Your other pair is that you had a 5SPADE and one of the five cards was a 5. the CLUB or SPADE doesn't really matter unless you're going for a flush which is 5 cards that are the same type (ex. CLUB CLUB CLUB CLUB CLUB or HEART HEART HEART HEART HEART etc.)
Your brother had only one pair cause he had 4HEARTS and one of the 5 cards was a 5. then he has a 9SPADE but there's no matching card number for his 9SPADE. so he has one pair. You have 2 pair. YOU WIN!
hope this helps

You didn't list all 5 cards, but you would win with a higher 2 pair (JJ55 to your brothers JJ44) unless the missing card is a 9, then your brother would have JJ99 beating your JJ55, or if the other card was a 5 your brother would have a full house. You can't have 3 pairs in poker, best 5 card hand wins. Any cards you don't use in your 5 card hand are irrelevant.

It depends. You only listed 4 cards. But at this point, you win as to the second pair other than the Jacks. 5's for you, 4's for him.

i am assuming that you are playing texas hold'em. it all depends on what that last card(called the turn or fourth street) was. as long as it wasn't a 9 or another 4 then yes you won the hand. the object is to have best hand you can get by using 5 out of 7 total cards , meaning there is no such thing as 3 pairs

The board had high pair. you can leave the pot for next hand or split , even thought you had next highest pair , The pair your brother had was close to yours . thus the board wins if thats all the cards youll be dealing. You should decide what rules you are gunna follow before you start the game . As long as it was for chips and fun . Leave it in for next pot .

You win. You each have two pair (doesn't go to 3 pr), but your second pair (5s) is higher than his 4s.
