I disagree with the answer above. Ive had many types of lizards... and if your looking for a friendly reptile... yes, id go with the bearded dragon. They tame easily and with daily handling they will be your best friend for a long time. Mine happens to be very playful. I wouldnt recomend doing this, but i happened to lose track of her one day, and she was playing with my kitten. I didnt know what to think at first, but they seem to be good friends, since they grew up together.

I don't think I would consider them playful, but they are extremely social, they seem to enjoy interacting with humans and will tolerate ALOT of handling. They can, in fact, become depressed if they are left alone. They prefer to exist in small colonies, but keep them all close to the same size, and one male only please!!! They can be very aggressive towards one another if they have to compete for food or mates, and big beardies will bully smaller ones, biting off thier toes and tails. We have a male Sudan Plated with two female beardies about the same size and they get along beautifully!!!

I would not say "playful". Afterall, they are reptiles. Bearded dragons are very docile and have loads of personality though. I think they make great companions.

In general, reptiles are not "playful."
Perhaps friendly, or cute, but there is something about the cold-blooded nature and primitive brain that doesn't relate to playing. :)
