I was overweight by about 55-60 lbs when I decdied I wanted to have another baby. I did lose about 15 lbs or so and after 3 months of being off of birth control I got pregnant. I dont know if losing that little bit of weight helped me to get pregnant or not or if it was just a blessing to have the right timing but Im now currently 12 weeks along and havent had any real problems. I do have concerns though as I get bigger and start gaining weight but I think as long as you eat right and continue with your walking you will be ok.
Good luck to you!!

I was more than 50 pounds overweight when I found out I was pregnant. The only problem I had that was attributable to the weight was finding maternity clothes in my size. I didn't end up finding any that were also made for my height (I'm 5 feet, 2 inches), so I just bought larger plus size clothes to fit over the baby belly. And incidentally, at 8 weeks post-partum, I am only 5 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight.
I didn't get gest. diabetes. I was diagnosed with PIH in my last trimester, but my OB told me that had nothing to do with my weight. She said it was a gene in the father's DNA that carries PIH, so I'd have had it whether I was overweight or not. And my son was not born huge. He was 7 pounds at birth - and he was 3 weeks premature.
Don't let the fear mongers scare you. There are far greater health risks - for mom and baby - than being overweight and pregnant.

Being overweight causes a multitude of health problems so would it be an ideal condition to be pregnant in - no. However, that is not to say that it can't be done and that you absolutely will have problems. It all depends on your overall health. I have always been on the plus side but overall am relatively healthy. I conceived and gave birth to four beautiful healthy children wth no problems whatsoever. Obviously the better shape you're in the easier things are - but if you're ready and willing - don't let anything stop you from enjoying a wonderful pregnancy! Best of luck to you!

You're not "that much" overweight where you would have problems. It's possible that there would be discomforts, and maybe gest. diabetes and high blood pressure, but both are easily manageable. Just so you know, losing weight will help you to get pregnant. I was overweight the first time I got pregnant, and I didn't get PG until I lost about 10 lbs. Good luck!

i'm overweight (220lbs) and having a difficult time getting pregnant. however, my sis-in-law is double my size and had no problem in conceiving a baby boy and a baby girl. whatever the case, I am told even the slightest weight loss can help. And walking is great. Best of luck

I was about that size when I got pregnant, and I had no problems at all, just try to go for a walk every day and eat well, take care of yourself.

I have heard it can, and that losing just 10 pounds can help you dramatically........
But be safe about it if you are trying to conceive, drink lots of water, and maybe eat more veggies and fruits.......also smaller portions. The average serving at a restaraunt is double the normal average size!!
Good luck to you!
