I use my debit card to pay my monthly bills on-line and for most general living expenses. There are a lot of time, though, when you are better off paying by credit card because once you pay with a debit card, your bank account is charged and the money is gone. If you want to dispute a charge, you're often out of luck. At least with a credit card, you have some recourse and leverage.

A Debit card is the same as a Credit card if there is money in the bank and you do not over spend what you have in the Bank. A Credit card is money that someone is loaning you that you have to repay with interest . Probably not a bad idea to take both in case of an emergency. Have fun on your trip.

You can use your Debit Card internationally since it bares the logo of VISA or MASTERCARD. However remember if you want to withdraw cash in the currency where you're visiting. Charging will be in US Dollars. From what I know its USD1.00 for balance inquiry & USD 5.00 for Withdrawal. And the policy of how much the limit that you can withdraw in the Philippines is applicable. With the bank I work for, its Php 50,000.00 a day...In case you have alot of money in your account, You might want to withdraw the maximum limit for a day so you won't be surprise at the charges being deducted to your account. And remember, make purchases of merchandise you think you won't be asking for a money back, cause its gonna be a long process of making them credit back your account, or you might need to come to an arrangement with the store when it comes to credit back the money deducted for merchandised returned.

A word of advice, when going to Hong Kong better get HK Dollars here...it gives you your money's worth. When going to SIngapore, bring USD dollars would be just fine.

A debit card is almost the same as cash. be sure that you have sufficient funds. If you have a credit card, then that would be better.

it depends if you are using BDO Mastercard PayPass ATM Card & BDO International ATM Card, you can use it worldwide to withdraw cash in any Cirrus Maestro ATM or shop in any mechants accepting Maestro & Mastercard.
If you only have the BDO Smarteller ATM Card (for nationwide use only) you have to go to your bank and apply for the other 2 debit cards I mentioned above.
