I would say the younger the better. I got my ears pierced when I was 1-2 months. I don't remember them hurting. But I also never have to worry about them closing again.

At that age I had sting in the holes, and my mom would just rotate the string while cleaning my ears with peroxide. When they stopped being crusty I was ready for real earrings.

Just be careful on what kind of earring you buy, gold and silver are good, but some people have reactions to the plated/ fake stuff.

Just a thought, has it ever occurred to you that not all females want their ears pierced? Getting any kind of holes put in your body should be a personal choice. Let your daughter grow up and make the choice herself. You people keep saying "do it while she won't remember the pain!" I didn't decide to get my ears pierced until I was 8 and I'm not mentally scarred from the pain. Just let your child be old enough to decide if they want HOLES IN THEIR EARS!

Personally, I say no b/c it is a pain to change thier earrings, keep them clean and not infected when they are so young and so good at squirming and crying. Let her get them done around 6-8 years old when she will be nervous, but enjoy the result ...and able to take care of them on her own.

But on the flip side, she wont remember the pain now.

I'm sorry, but I always think it's ridiculous when I see a baby with pierced ears. Wait until she's old enough to decide for herself and able to take care of them herself.

If you want to have your daughter's ears pierced I would definitely do it when she is young. I had my daughter's ears pierced when she was 10 months old and it didn't phase her. She never really messed with them or pulled on them. Just be diligent in cleaning her ears and keeping earrings in so the holes do not close up.

If the earring falls out, do you want her picking it up or the back and eating it.
