STUPID QUESTION HILLARY!
Sen. Hillary Clinton, Democratic frontrunner in the 2008 presidential election, recently asked, "How much are we willing to sacrifice for the Iraqis?" As if the Iraqis asked us to invade their country and make their world a living hell and are now letting us down.
We attacked Iraq, for control of their oil, murdering tens of thousands, displacing 1 in 5 Iraqis, we have done nothing to help the refugee crisis we caused...
Pro-war people SUCK!

On one hand, I agree with you. We were not ASKED to come in and save them from a tyrannical dictator. We did see the jubilation in the street the day he was captured, suggesting that there were some happy for the assistance. But by and large, I would agree that we are being arrogant in our assumption that they needed and wanted our help...and should now be grateful by stepping up and finishing what we started.
On the other hand...if I take Clinton's words literally...I would like to comment...
How much are the American people willing to sacrifice for the Iraqis? The countless billions of dollars that have been spent on this war could have funded a national medical program. It could have fed the American hungry, and given a hand up to the homeless/jobless. As for oil, if GWB had commited that money to drilling the vast supplies in the US, we wouldn't need to be dependent upon the middle east for oil!
With the question turned around like that...I suggest it is a poignant one...

Actually, I think that there is a good point to be made for never invading a country again, for any reason.
All we have ever had from the socialists (seditious), the liberals (often seditious but often good hearted toward the U.S.), the America-Haters (self-destructive), and the pro-peace crowd (patriotic, but in my opinion often sacrificing reality for an ideal that isn't shared by those who attack us), is GRIEF!
Give them what they want, to some extent. We never get such grief during the attack. We get it when we try to nation build.
No more nation building. Stop sacrificing for the Iraqis.
Next time they, or anyone, tries to assassinate one of our Presidents (like Saddam did), or tries to bomb us (like Afghanistan did), we simply do the following:
1) warn them that in three weeks we will bomb one of three cities.
2) We pick the cities, we blanket them with warnings to evacuate.
3) We wait three weeks and then we bomb one of them to the ground.
4) We leave.
5) We tell them, "Every time you attack us, we will do the same thing. Next time it will be six cities, we bomb two. LEAVE US ALONE!"
That would stop all the sacrifice, all the nation-building, and would end attacks on us in record time.
I agree. Let's not sacrifice any more. Let them suffer, not us. They attack us. They pay for it.
Oh, and widen your political awareness. Your one note "oil" cry is foolish. It's true that part of it was to prevent Saddam from controlling most of the Middle-Eastern oil and having a strangle-hold on the West (How DARE we protect our interests!), but having an assassination attempt on the older President Bush, constant attacks on our troops across the no-fly zone near Kuwait, and constant bragging by Saddam that he was fooling the U.N. and really DID have WMDs (whether he did or not) to all his friends were some of the MANY factors that went into the decision to attack Iraq.
Former First Lady and Senator Hillary Clinton is not so foolish as to make such a decision just on President Bush's say-so. I may disagree with her policies, but she was close enough to the heart of our country to know how complex these issues are.
Don't you love these people who want to simplify everything down to one factor and expect people to respect their opinions, folks?

An uninformed President that chooses a freaky ideology to spread democracy at the sacrifice of reason is a mistake I hope we do not commit to in 2008..

She was making the point that what we are doing in Iraq is NOT for the benefit of OUR national security, but for the benefit of the IRAQIS' national security.
