considering the immense contribution it has made to the world musical scene.. by having reshaped the world’s musical tastes and established an industry of such magnitude that it has justified the announcement of a special, aptly named, commemorative day on the calendar?... .

It all started in 1954 when a young guy with an attitude, loads of talent, a guitar and looks out of a billion, experimented, remodelled, moulded, honed and managed to re-invent a bunch of old lyrics, added some innovative flavours and hip movements, and, voila, the greatest musical sounds in history were born.

Over the years that followed, it transcended international borders and racial-, cultural- and political divides, Never did it separate people, instead, it united them. It never judged and it only promoted the message of goodwill and hope. 53 YEARS ON, IT IS STILL GOING AS STRONG AS EVER.

not so much a commomorative day
but something of that sort to celebrate what rock 'n' roll
perhaps every year or so a world wide concert (similar sort of thing to the live 8) where a range of recent, legendary and support bands can play a few songs
the concert will last all night
tickets won't be hard to get and will broadcast to the whole world

Yes that would be cool, but only if there was a day to commemorate every other genre too!

No. We'd have to commemorate every other genre as well.
