I would think a woman's feet would get cold.

It only becomes appalling if you also chain her to the sink. Make sure she has enough slack to also head over to the stove.

Well, I am barefoot a lot of the time. I love to cook and bake so the kitchen is my favorite room in the house. But at my age, I would find pregnancy appalling. But you do have a point about the cold feet...so maybe I'll go with socks.

I think that was my mantra for a very long time. I spent over 6 years either pregnant or nursing babies. The only trouble with it is, that when you are as short as I am, it's hard to reach the sink or the stove. I was getting to the point where I was going to redesign my kitchen to be ergonomic and curved inward to accomodate my ever growing belly. Barefoot, oh yes, my feet swelled so bad I couldn't get my shoes on the feet I couldn't find.
Appalling? No, this too shall pass. Thank God women aren't fertile as long as men are!

Heck no! It's been many years, but when my wife was pregnant, she was barefoot a lot! Both of our kids were born in the late summer, so she was always barefoot! She was always hot, and quite frankly, most of the time she was just "barefoot-all-over" It was the only way she could approach being comfortable.

Oh dear god... that sounds like a hideous nightmare to me, I'd rather drop dead than end up that way.

Personally, I have much better things to do with my time than spend it in the kitchen, or clean the house, barefoot or otherwise! That's not what I slaved away at uni for 5 years for. (I did my degrees to help me answer questions here, of course - LOL. )

To each her own, I guess... as long as it's her own choice, it's not a problem to me.

My feet get cold all the time, yeah. But my ratty old sweats are so comfy that I hardly ever notice! I don't think I'll be doing the pregnant thing again for a while though; I'm too busy scrubbing the house these days because my husband works such long hours and I want to make sure the house is spotless for whenever he is home.

Yeah..that was ok when I was pregnant in the summer time. But I tell you, the barefoot part really sucked in January when I would have to go shovel the sidewalk before hubby left for the day.

Barefoot all the time, pregnant never, in the kitchen briefly every evening, because I'm single I have to cook for myself :-)

I don't find the barefoot and in the kitchen part appalling. I'm like that most nights.
However pregnant is appalling. But that's just me. I don't like children. Even really little ones.

Feet? What feet? My feet disappeared when I was pregnant. But they came back afterwards. Amazing. Funny how that works.

Not at all. Those calico kittens are cute. Shall I save one for you? I should move the litter box out of the kitchen. You could carpet the kitchen. Our mobile home came standard with Brady Bunch avocado green shag carpet.
