My mum has this concept that people who dance are generally more outgoing, so cannot believe that a guy who is a great dancer (and used to compete professionally) could be shy with a female. What do you think?

Forget the gay option... this guy is my friend, I know he isn't gay, in fact he would appear to be at least interested in me.

Yes, absolutely and totally positively yes they can be shy. I know a Latin dancer (he's a world-famous pro) who is shy in real life. You could never tell that he's shy when he's on the floor with his hot (!!!) partner but in real life he is kind of slightly uncomfortable around people in general. In other words, shy.

Dancers are trained professionals, pretty much like actors. They know how to prduce certain look (flirty, sexy, passionate, sad - you name it) but it doesn't mean they will act like this in real life. In real life they are just people.

However, your mom still has a point: learning to dance might help overcome some part of social barriers. Also, those who are socially outgoing to begin with are a lot more likely to want to learn dancing in the first place.

I think it is perfectly acceptable for a 'professional dancer' to be shy. Where is it written that a 'professional' has to be outgoing all the time?
Each of us have areas in our lives in which we excel. Within those parameters, we blossom. We communicate freely, openly.
And, yet, each of us are confronted with situations where we, seeming, are shy or hesitant, where communication is a challenge. These are areas we must accept about ourselves and work on 'em.
This is human nature at its finest.
Enjoy who you are. Enjoy your 'gift of dance'.

of course it incredibly is. :) i don't comprehend the place you come back from, yet the place I stay, that is exceptionally uncommon to locate a male ballet dancer, so the companies gets any men that has even the priority-loose ballet journey and is prepared to connect them. :) And, on account which you're taking a marvelous type of training, you could certainly pass professional. :)

Of course he can be shy - his dancing has nothing to do with it.

He may also be gay and therefore not interested in girls.
