Did the teenagers visit each other by climbing through a window in their room? I just seen an old show and it made me wonder why every one of them do that? Why not just go through the front door?

I grew up back in those days. I can name a few. I seen it just now on Saved by the bell and then Dawson's creek, and the old nickelodeon show Clarissa.

I never noticed that but now I am thinking of all the shows that did that and there are tons. I suppose it was to show the fact that is was late at night or it was supposed to be secretive.

I don't know if it happened in all of them; quite a few 90s sitcoms had no teens in them

However, it is a reference to the teen soap "Dawson's Creek". Joey used to visit Dawson by climbing up a conveniently (and permanently) placed ladder and going through his window; it was used to symbolize the fact they were old Friends and, at least at the beginning, trusted each other completely.

The sitcom that I remember having this as a regular feature was Boy Meets World. Cory would climb through Topanga's window...

well most people lock their front door and if you go through the front then their is a better chance you will run into someone getting a glass of water or a sandwich. if you go through the window then you can go directly to the person. and you don't have to worry about breaking things or squeaking floorboards. if they just waltz into the house it would look really fake.

Dawson's Creek was the only one that I know of that did that.

That's a good question I don't know why they wouldn't use the front door.
