I am looking into purchasing an Oreck XL and was wondering if anyone owns this machine and what are your opinions of it? Does it work well? Does it need a lot of maintenance? Thank you for your opinions!

My mother owned the home model and started having problems with it after about a year. I used the professional model as a janitor and hated it. They aren't very durable.

My Oreck XL is 10 years old and I've never had a problem with it. It works great. It's lightweight and easy to handle. The only maintenance so far is a new belt. I'm having the brush checked for possible replacement since it's the original. Highly recommended.

Terrible vacuum don't work, and they break by the time they are about one and half to two years old and don't have good suction my Mother owned one and it constantly clogged up and then just gave out on her by the time it was almost two years old, don't waste your money on this vacuum, try a Panasonic model instead they are cheaper and last and do an excellent job of cleaning, mine is still going strong eight years later and it's never been in the shop for repairs. Good Luck !

Is just as Good as Any Bag Vacuum Cleaner!

I always found that attaching the tools became a real pain!(I'm yet to find an efficiently designer Vacuum).

It has a Cheap feel(personal Opinion!)

My mom bought one and she absolutely hated it. The bag filled up really fast and it would not pick up the dirt off of her bathroom floor. Her bathroom has thick blue carpet, so it tends to show the dirt, but if you're going to pay that much for a vacuum, then it should do its job. She returned hers during the money-back period because she was so unhappy with it.
