It's a nice restaurant, but wearing black pants and a shirt is certainly fine. It's NYC, anything goes. I doubt they would throw you out in jeans. I've gone to fancier places and seen people in jeans, so don't worry. With the weather we are having and as you are going to be on the water, wear pants, even though you can get dropped off right in front of the front door and not get cold. It's one of those places that has a heated front door is I remember correctly.

Black pants and a nice button-down shirt are always appropiate, especially for dinner at a club. If the dinner invitation did not state what to wear (formal, casual, business atire etc) then the black pants with the nice shirt sound wonderful! have a good time!

Black pants and a button down shirt is always appropriate to wear, so long as neither is paisley, tie-dye, or something else overly obnoxious. Just wear something pseudo-formal, and if you're overdressed, don't do it next time. If you're under dressed, blame it on it being your first time there.

Yes -- black pants/slacks are dressy and you can dress them up very nicely with a nice button-down shirt and appropriate jewelery, if you like. Of course, a fur (or faux fur) will always dress up any outfit, even jeans! Have fun!

yea that is a pretty good idea, not too casual, but not too fancy. remember that the seletion of jewelery can also take your outfit to the next level.

Always be cautious of wearing black and white in a restaurant as you run the risk of being mistaken for a server.
