CPU comparisons alone don’t always mean that much for gaming.

It’s mostly down to fast RAM and video cards, so you’re better off getting a board which can handle those, rather than just picking a CPU and building the machine around that.

That said, if I had the option I would choose the AMD Athlon 64 FX Processor (Quad FX ) for a gaming PC.

intel due-core is the best for gaming

intel core 2 extreme QX6700.... $985
or if you don't want to spend money for that go for
intel core 2 duo E6600
