When taking information from a reference book, what two bits of information must go inside the parentheses?

1. author name and copyright date
2. author name and page number
3. copyright date and page number
4. book title and copyright date

If you're talking about parenthetical documentation, inside an essay, it's 2. This must be accompanied by a Works Cited page at the end of your paper. Google MLA documentation for further information.

if you mean quoting it inside an essay, than the authors name and page number you got the quote from. you fill out all the rest in your bibliography at the end of the report. in the bibliography you usually put the copyright date in parentheses. hope this helps.

It depends on what format you are using. If it's MLA, then the answer is number two.
